Sydney Taiwan Festival 2017: A Cultural Extravaganza
One of North Shore’s most popular events, the Sydney Taiwan Festival is celebrated as part of the Emerge Festival.
Home to East Asia’s highest mountain Yushan (Mount Jade), Taiwan is situated to the east of China. Richly multicultural, the democratic nation’s unique history, marked by waves of immigration from China and other countries has given Taiwan its distinct identity. Aboriginal, Hokkien, and Hakka traditions play an important role in Taiwanese culture.
Sydneysiders can enjoy plenty of exciting performances from diverse groups of artists and performers from Taiwan, including martial arts, traditional and modern dances, musical performances, and puppet shows.
Traditional arts and crafts stalls and games suitable for families provide a flavour of Taiwan’s famous night market culture.
